Mee & Gretel Harvey

When it comes to catering an event or special occasion, there is no one else I would turn to except Gretel Harvey from House of Harvey co. If you aren’t already familiar with her super-stylish and drool-worthy feed over at @houseofharveyco now’s the time to follow along beauties.

This month, I caught up with Gretel to chat all things House of Harvey co., what self-care looks like in her life right now and where she finds inspiration.

What does a regular day look like for you?

I always like to start my day with some form of exercise to get me ready for the day ahead, followed by a gigantic cup of coffee! My days are always different, wearing a gazillion hats in running my business. I am often on the road a lot, in between the office and our kitchen. No two days are ever the same anymore!

What does self-care look like for you & how do you implement it into your routine?

Over the Christmas break, I read a LOT about what it means to slow down and breathe. We all know that stress is not good for us, but I hadn't actually read up on the extent to which it can affect every system in our body. I am making a conscious effort this year to attend at least 3 yoga sessions a week, read a book for 30 mins in the afternoons, and schedule in either a massage or facial once a month. I know how amazing I will feel after doing it, and it also gives me something to look forward to.

Where do you find inspiration for all of your delicious creations?

Dare I say it, I am on Pinterest more than any other social media platform... and I also have a human high pile of cooking books. Yotam Ottolenghi is my all-time favourite. I sat down after Christmas, and went through every single cookbook we have, putting sticky notes on all dishes I wanted to try this year.

What is your fave treatment at Mee & You Beauty?

The Bespoke Facial. I always look forward to it when I have one booked. I leave feeling so fresh, revitalised and relaxed. I also notice a huge difference in the moisture of my skin for weeks afterwards too.

What exciting things are in the pipeline for you in 2020?

I have 2 trips booked for the business this year, whilst we focus on extending our Hire range in 2020 for the wedding market. I am SO excited about this. Also hoping to grow our team with a full-time chef and event manager. All the while, Matt and I are hoping to buy our first home! I'm excited for a big year ahead.
